What other drugs will affect Cialis?
Cialis is not allowed for people who are under nitrate treatment for chest pain or heart problems. This includes nitroglycerin (Nitrostat, Nitrolingual, Nitro-Dur, Nitro-Bid, Minitran, Deponit, Transderm-Nitro), isosorbide dinitrate (Dilatrate-SR, Isordil, Sorbitrate), and isosorbide mononitrate (Imdur, ISMO, Monoket), also some of the recreational drugs could contain nitrate such as amyl nitrate or nitrite (”poppers”)
If you are under treatment with any of the listed below, tell your doctor. Cialis could interact with them what needs special dosage changes.
- cimetidine (Tagamet, Tagamet HB);
- erythromycin (E-Mycin, Eryc, Ery-Tab) or clarithromycin (Biaxin);
- doxazosin (Cardura), prazosin (Minipress), terazosin (Hytrin);
- HIV medicines such as amprenavir (Agenerase), tipranavir (Aptivus), darunavir (Prezista), efavirenz (Sustiva), nevirapine (Viramune), indinavir (Crixivan), saquinavir (Invirase, Fortovase), lopinavir/ritonavir (Kaletra), fosamprenavir (Lexiva), ritonavir (Norvir), atazanavir (Reyataz), or nelfinavir (Viracept);
- itraconazole (Sporanox) or ketoconazole (Nizoral);
- carbamazepine (Tegretol), phenobarbital (Luminal), or phenytoin (Dilantin); or
- rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane).
Keep in mind that there could be also other drugs which may interact with Cialis. In connection with that it is necessary to acquaint your doctor with all your prescription and other drugs you are taking. Also vitamins, minerals, herbal products and prescriptions from other doctor should be listed to your doctor. Remember that you cannot start taking any other drugs without consulting that with your doctor.
